Studying in South Africa

Studying in South Africa can be an amazing and rewarding experience. Being the biggest economy in Africa, there sure are lots of opportunities that this country could provide a potential student.

Also remember that South Africa has the most developed economy in terms of infrastructure. Higher education in South Africa is comparable to world standards and the University of Cape Town is a world wide known institution of high quality education.

So you may be wondering, how will you able to school in South Africa?

First of all education in South Africa is not free, and as International students, you are liable to even pay more than a local student. The good thing however is that tuition rates at South African Universities are cheaper than other developed countries.

Depending on your course of study, you are likely to pay between 1,200 -8,000$ per year for tuition charges. Bear in mind other associated costs as well.

The monthly cost of living is estimated around 950$.

Also, know that a good number of South Africa Universities provide funding for their students, and International students are eligible to apply for some of these funds. Even though these funding opportunities are competitive and limited, you stand a  good chance if you have good grades and put in an excellent application.

Under your study permit, you are allowed to work not more than 20 hours a week during your school sessions, but can work for an unlimited time during vacations.
