So you have decided to school abroad.
Congrats because you have taken a very courageous and
Here's why: It is actually easier to apply and school in your home country.
Here are some of the things any one preparing to school abroad will deal with:
Check, Check, Check |
- Extra Application documents for foreign students: If I were applying for my Masters degree in my Alma Mata, heck I didn't even have to add my transcripts. Just my index number would be enough. But no, as a foreign student, your required application documents are almost twice what the locals have to present.
- Worries about the exchange rate: Ever since I decided to study abroad, my heart will skip a beat, my palms will break out in a sweat at news about the exchange rate . It is always a very bad news. Seeing as my currency is always depreciating. I need twice as much money now than 6 months ago to get the same value of foreign exchange. I just have to deal with this. Sigh.
- Where, What, When,???? : In Ghana, it is quite easy to make a choice of where and what degree to choose. But deciding to school abroad means you are faced with a myriad of choices. First of, you have to decide which Continent(s) you want to go to. Then you are faced with deciding which country you want, and then you realize that this is not your home country where there are only 6 public Universities. No, now you have to choose between hundreds of schools. And they are all mostly good schools.
Except the one's which hand out degrees in a month..So it is tough. Very tough
It keeps going down and down and down |
- Getting the required application documents: Okay this needs a post on its own. The hustle to get the documents is just so real
You have to pick a choice |
So tell me, what are some of the things you deal with when you decide to apply for school?
